About Mount Joy Dental

Mount Joy Dental has been serving the Markham area since 1987. We took our name from the fact that our office is located in the historic property known as the Mount Joy General Store.

We offer all types of dental services in a friendly, warm environment. We have worked hard to create a home-like feel to the décor. Although the building was built in 1892, we are a thoroughly modern dental practice with many state of the art technologies.

After purchasing the building in 1992, we undertook a major renovation to rescue this deteriorating heritage building on Markham's old Main Street. The result is a modern clinic providing advanced dental care and preservation of a landmark for all of our town's citizens.

The Mount Joy Dental Clinic Philosophy

To provide our patient's with a lifetime of excellent dental care. Any one thing we do does not create life-long dental health. It is the things we do over your lifetime. We stress the basics of regular preventive care and recommend treatment with a view to long term results.

A quick fix to a sudden problem may be periodically required, but this is not the foundation of good dental health. Our aim is to provide our patient's with all the knowledge that they require of their treatment needs so as to allow them to fully participate in all aspects and decisions regarding the services we provide.

The Mount Joy Dental Clinic Partners

Dr. Rod Stewart started the practice in 1987 after completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1983 from the University of Toronto. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a dental officer from 1979 to 1987 and was stationed in British Columbia, West Germany and Ontario.

Rod is the father of three children and keeps very busy with his wife, Tracy, involved with his children's many activities. His hobbies are woodworking, cabinetry making and computer technology. He considers himself a handyman and a geek. A regular, high tech, Red Green.
