Electronic Dental Insurance (EDI)The Canadian Dental Association, along with the insurance carriers, have established a network that allows you to submit claims and predeterminations electronically *EDI). This network is called CDAnet. In order to submit claims through CDAnet, your dental office requires insurance information updated along with all personal data The Canadian Dental Association requires that patients sign forms authorizing our office to submit claims electronically. Your insurance form will be sent automatically to your insurance carrier by our computer, this eliminates the need for you to handle the paperwork. The cost of mailing, and lost or delayed forms will become things of the past. Also patients queries regarding procedures and coverage can be answered in minutes. In place of a "regular" claim form, you will receive one of two forms before you leave our office. You may receive a "claim acknowledgement" which comes directly from the insurance carrier. This form verifies that they have received your dental claim for processing. The second applies to claims processors who can actually process your claim promptly in which case you will receive an "explanation of benefits" which indicates the exact amount of the claim for which you will be reimbursed. CDAnet allows you to submit predeterminations electronically which speeds up the process of patients receiving his or her reply of cost of treatment. If predeterminations are sent successfully, you will receive a message on your computer advising you of this. Performing a claim reversal may void a claim submitted in error. A claim reversal voids all procedures that were part of the original claim. A claim may only be reversed using CDAnet on the same day it was submitted. If you notice that a claim is invalid the next day you have to phone or by mail notify the insurance carrier.
